Why did you start your business, or choose the position you are currently in?
I left teaching when my last kid left home for college because I wanted a career with more flexibility, more personal autonomy, and the opportunity to work with words all day long. I also love helping people communicate well both personally and professionally.
You just won 10MM in the lottery. What would you do?
I’ve actually thought this one through. 🙂 I’m giving away a huge chunk of the money to a mission called Dare to Share; this mission feeds, clothes, houses, educates, and gives medical care to a village in Zimbabwe. Next, I will buy my parents a beautiful home, and I’ll give to and also put away for each of my kids. Then I travel, travel, travel with my husband!
What is the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your resume?
I love to dance.
How would your best friend describe you?
Loyal, generous, fun-loving.
WOW MEMBERS LOVE TO GIVE REFERRALS; WHO IS A GOOD REFERRAL FOR YOU?
A good referral for me is anyone who communicates! 🙂 Seriously, though, a good referral for me as a social media manager is a small business owner who is aware of the necessity of social media marketing but either doesn’t know how to do it well or doesn’t have the time to do it well. Anyone who puts anything in writing is also a good referral for me; everyone can use a good editor.
What inspires you?
My faith inspires me and gives me hope. My husband inspires and encourages me to follow my dreams. My children inspire me to try every day to be better than I was the day before.
What makes you laugh?
I love to laugh! It’s not hard to make me laugh. The movie Elf makes me laugh, my family makes me laugh, friends make me laugh, and silly memes make me laugh.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could take three items, what would they be?
A Kindle full of books, my family, and tomatoes.
Whats your definition of success?
To me, success is doing what I love every day.
Why is it important to you to be part of WOW?
I want to be part of an organization of smart, savvy women who encourage and support each other, whom I can learn from, and whom I can give back to–all while having fun together.
