WHY DID YOU START YOUR BUSINESS, OR CHOOSE THE POSITION YOU ARE CURRENTLY IN?
I’ve been in the financial services industry for over 15 years, but it’s only been in the last 5 years that I have become passionate about my career. As a financial advisor, I love to empower, coach and advise women with their retirement planning and investment management. Depending on a man is not a financial plan.
You just won 10MM in the lottery. What would you do with the money?
I would give my parents and family the financial freedom they deserve. Then I would re-design my financial blueprint for the next 50 years, making sure we give back to our community, invest for our future, and have some fun traveling with our boys.
What is the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your resume?
Growing up in the mountains of Pennsylvania, I spent most of my childhood and teenage years singing and playing music at gospel and bluegrass festivals. My mother, her twin sister, and 3 brothers had a Southern Gospel group named, “The Four in One” and we would travel to festivals and church services to perform many weekends. That is where my love of music and singing began. I learned to play the piano and became a drummer in our school band. Bluegrass and traditional southern gospel music will also be dear to my heart.
Your Journey: How did you get to where you are?
My husband, Fred, and I have been together since I was 17 years old. I would not be where I am today if he would not have loved, encouraged, and pushed me to be my best. He gives me the courage to take risks and supports me through my mistakes.
How would your best friend describe you?
In the words of my best friend… My Jen is a vibrant, joyful and easy to approach person. She loves deeply and succeeds at whatever she sets her mind to.
What inspires you?
I get inspired when I realize that an idea that I have, an action that I can take, or connection I can make will positively impact another and make their life better in some way. When I am in the “flow” and in synchronicity, with my God-given, authentic power the inspirations guide me and put fire in my belly. Funny that many of my ambitious and inspirational ideas reveal themselves in the shower.
What makes you laugh?
Some of my favorite moments are the ones spent with my boys being silly on our living room dance floor or the late-night “SnapChat” sessions before we go to sleep. There are countless saved funny faces and voice changers for when I need a pick me up.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could take three items, what would they be?
Watermelon, a radio, and a boat.
Whats your definition of success?
Success to me is when your work becomes your life and your life, your work. When the passion that fuels you can financially support your family and you live each day making others smile.
Why is it important to you to be part of WOW?
I want to make people’s lives better because they know me. I love connecting people and seeing the magic that happens when a power connection is made. Connections lead to relationships and relationships bring true joy and success to our lives. That is the core of why I founded WOW.
What do you want your legacy to be?
In the words of Maya Angelou, “I learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” I want to be remembered for the positive energy that I try to bring to this world and the genuine happiness that I have in helping others.
