Why did you start your business, or choose the position you are currently in?

Growing up as a military brat, we lived all over the world. I understood the importance of the transition of moving and finding a permanent place called home. Since my youth, I’ve always had a dream of guiding and helping others in their transition to find their very own special home.

You just won 10MM in the lottery. What would you do?

I would donate to an organization that caters to aged-out youth in orphanages. Funding would be distributed to purchase temporary locations, provide grants for learning a trade through the local community college, and once graduated from that trade, provide funding to pay for recruiters for job placement in their local areas. This is close to my heart; in my youth, I would bring small groups to low-funded orphanages overseas to clean up and provide food and clothing. I would donate to the Arts and Science Council since I have an artistic background in ballet and am a flutist. I believe the Arts and Sciences are amazing gifts and touch everyone in a community. I would donate to organizations that empower, make a large impact on, educate, and provide capital for women business owners such as 37 Angels and Ladies Who Launch and, in return, hope they pay it forward in their local communities. Finally, I would save, invest, and take a 3-week vacation.

What is the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your resume?

I have spoken publicly in front of teens about business etiquette and in front of a few women’s groups on the topic of “Personal Growth and Giving Yourself Permission.”

Your Journey: How did you get to where you are?

I started in the real estate industry 30 years ago. Property Management brought me to Charlotte through handling and managing apartment acquisitions. After my first 12 years on the property management side, I decided to work for myself in the residential real estate home side of the business. My leadership background within organizations in the residential real estate industry has helped me to pay it forward through my experiences to help clients, colleagues, and anyone who would like guidance. I do not think any other field would be better carved out for me than being a Real Estate Broker. I wake up every morning feeling fortunate that I have a business that I love.

Anyone who has any questions about real estate and/or wanting to sell or buy a home.

How would your best friend describe you?

I literally sent this question to my best friend in Raleigh and here is what she sent back: “She always talks to strangers, especially the quiet person by themselves in the back of the room. She has a heart of gold, is passionate about her friends and family, always looks at the positive side of a situation, is creative, and is a person who gets the job done.” I wanted to leave this one out: “she loves her chocolate,” but I felt obliged to add it…

What inspires you?

One aspect of growing up living in different places is hearing the stories of others. I learned early on everyone has a story. These stories inspire me as I look to also inspire others through my own experiences.

What makes you laugh?

My family, friends, and good old slapstick comedies.

If you were stranded on a desert island and could take three items, what would they be?

Water, the husband, and my surf rod.

Whats your definition of success?

Do what you love, have a great support system, design your own life, and be grateful for failures and successes because we always learn from them.

Why is it important to you to be part of WOW?

To be inspired and to inspire, share knowledge, support others in their goals, and build friendships.

What do you want your legacy to be?

To lead by example to share knowledge with others that that might be a gift to them. To let anyone I meet feel important; after all, we all are unique individuals and have something special to share. I call it our Superhero spirit.
